Occitanie possesses the largest vineyard area in France, with two main zones of production, one Mediterranean (226,000 ha) and the other in the South-West (37,000 ha). These 263,000 hectares make Occitanie the biggest vineyard area in the world in terms of production, with quality wines in both AOP and IGP covering some 87 appellations (51 AOPs and 36 IGPs).
