Our adventure begins with the creation of Château Haut-Blanville in 1997 by a couple of neo-winemakers who arrived from Paris to the Languedoc. From scratch, Béatrice and Bernard Nivollet began by buying 10 hectares of vines on the hillsides of the village of Saint-Pargoire, found a cellar adjoining Château Rieutort to restore, and took the plunge. Over the years, they will continue expanding by carefully selecting each plot. From 2015, the year Bernard retired, Château Haut-Blanville experienced brilliant growth and the estate's ambitions turned to export. With the acquiring of new international markets, we also started to offer a broader range of wines to satisfy the needs of our importers and that is how we launched the trade activity and with it the BLANVILLE group.
The name of BLANVILLE comes from Bernard's ancestors, more specifically, his maternal grandmother who was related to the Knight of Aymar Blanc de Blanville, who won his nobility titles alongside the Knight Bayard in the Italian wars. By giving the name of BLANVILLE to its viticultural activity, the Nivollet family pays homage to the past and their ancestors.
Today, the succession is assured since Charlotte, Margaux (2 daughters of Bernard and Beatrice) and their friend Marion take over the estate and continue the work, notably with the creation of 2 new domains (Domaine des Celtis and Domaine des 8 Lunes) and the conversion of the vineyards to organic and/or biodynamic.
